LANGE

Last season Lange really stepped it up with an almost completely new lineup of boots. We especially like the modernization of stance that Lange did almost across the board. The old Exclusives in particular tend to put women into a “camped” position with the ankle pre-flexed, and the quads overloaded. The new Lange boots are very neutral, with 4 degrees of ramp, and 12 degrees of forward lean. This works great with a tall modern stance, where you can stack the bones and ski efficiently from the middle of the ski. If you need more ramp or forward lean it is very easy for us to add heel lifts and spoilers to make your stance more aggressive.

The other big upgrade was in the liners, where Lange received many of the same tweaks that Rossi got the previous season. This included a truer liner/shell fit, with no “short liner”; a toebox without seams; more anatomical padding; and best of all, a much better tongue attached in a much cleaner manner. We had performed plenty of “tongue-ectomys” on Lange’s over the years, but those days are done. Thank you Lange, our feet love you.

In a nutshell, Lange boots fit great, and just plain rip. The RS boots set the standard for precision, while the RX boots add a cushier liner, lower cuffs and replaceable grippy soles.

More expert skiers are going to find a soul mate in the RX boots. These boots come in both a regular 100mm last, and a LV (Low Volume) 97mm last, both one has a great fit with a snugger ankle/heel than most, and more instep volume than Lange is known for. The RX 120 and RX 100/LV are both great boots for ripping up the whole mountain, as are the Ladies Exclusive RX 90 and 80/LV. Find the correct last, right flex and have at it; with Lange’s new neutral stance, these are some of the best fitting, highest performing freeride boots on the market.

If your dogs are a bit beefier, a Blaster or Delight might be the way to go. These boots use a 102mm last with a snug heel to fit the combination (wide forefoot/narrower heel) foot. We carry the Blaster 90 and Delight 70.
