The old Raichle Flexon boots live on thanks to Full Tilt. The original three-piece shell is famous for its smooth flex, lightweight, and nimble feel. This is the boot that Bill Johnson used to win the first Olympic downhill gold medal for the US. But its legend was really created in the mogul/freestyle world by skiers like Nelson Carmichael and Jennifer Heil. Of course, the most famous devotee in recent years is ski movie hero Seth Morrison, who even has a very sweet but kind of pricey Pro Model we don’t carry. Before Full Tilt, Seth had to scrounge and hoard old Flexons, now that is not an issue. What can be an issue is getting used to buckling the wire bales and getting everything lined up right. A little practice goes a long way, and most people figure it out pretty quick. On the positive side, every part of the boot can be replaced, especially the tongues that determine the flex of the boot. Many a Full Tilt user swaps tongues depending on snow condition, mood, or whether they are shredding the park or the steeps.
The Classic is a great no frills model with a #6 flex 7 rib tongue, 99mm last, and lightweight Body Heat Activated liner. The Soul Sister is white on white, and uses a 99mm female last, with a fabric cable cover that makes buckling a snap. The Sister also gets a new Body Heat Activated liner with a new ladies fit. With a #6 7 rib tongue, she is ready to get her groove on anywhere.
