VOLKL

Volkl continues to make some of the most amazing skis on the planet. The Mantra sold out quick last year, and returns a touch wider for ’07-’08. It’s still an incredibly versatile ski that can handle anything the mountain throws its way. The Mantra’s combination of width, metal and moderate shape, make it the perfect upper mountain ski. The AC40 replaces the very popular AC4. It’s mostly unchanged, and that’s good because the AC40 is still a great carving crudbuster. For many, it’s the only ski they really need. The New Tigershark is either a stiff speed demon, or a nimble pussycat depending on if you turn the tail switch on or off. Turn it off while you ski backwards with your five year old, otherwise leave it on. Volkl’s Attiva line of women’s skis is all new this season. The Fuego is a versatile carve ski that has tons of energy and a blast to ski on anything resembling firm snow. The Tierra is a spunky mid fat that goes anywhere. Ladies looking for a more relaxed ski should try the narrower Luna. It’s effortless on the groomed runs. The Aura is the same shape as last years Mantra, and is a great ski for ruling off piste steeps.
