Convict Lake
Convict Lakes sits just a short drive from Mammoth Lakes and tucked into one of the most picturesque canyons in the Eastern Sierras. It is a medium sized lake that is very popular with fishermen and boaters. Use a little caution with the boats and you will be very well rewarded with the scenery. The best place to put in is at the boat ramp to the right side of the parking lot. After a great day of paddling, reward yourself with a wonderful lunch or dinner at the Convict Lake Restaurant.
Lake Mary Lake Mary is located in the Mammoth Lakes Basin. This medium sized lake is a perfect place to take the kids for a kayak trip. Pokonobe General Store and Marina rents kayaks, canoes and motor boats. Fishing is great and the scenery is unbeatable. Bring fishing gear, sunscreen and a camera for a fun filled afternoon.
Rock Creek Lake 8 1/2 miles off of Highway 395 is one of the Eastern Sierras little gems. Rock Creek Lake is a small but very picturesque lake. Access for paddling is easy from the boat launch or from the campgrounds on the far side of the lake. Fishing is usually great and there are also numerous day hikes from this lake. BONUS: After a great day of paddling be sure to stop by the Rock Creek Lake Resort for their famous homemade pie. This is a locals tradition.
